Who is it for?

Fitness Pilates is for everyone, any age, any fitness level who wants to strengthen their core muscles, have better posture and reduce the risk of back injuries or pain. Fitness Pilates uses the traditional moves of Joseph Pilates in addition to modern exercises. I break them down to beginners level first and as clients become stronger and increase in ability I advance the moves appropriately.


What will it do for me?


Describe a typical class

Fitness Pilates begins with mobilising joints, warming muscles and using breathing techniques to prepare the body for the exercise session. The main body of the class is split into these positions: standing, all fours, lying down face up or lying down face down. I aim to cover all of these in each class but sometimes it will be necessary to more of some than others depending on who is in the class that day and how everyone is responding to the workouts.

Each week we'll focus on a particular theme eg: upper body posture, gait exercises, balance and I'll incorporate all four positions into working that theme. If there are clients who struggle in any positions I'll provide alternatives and try as much as possible for everyone to be working with the same theme but within their own parameter.
